🇧🇷 Pluvialis Biotech

Pluvialis Biotech will be the first Brazilian spinoff producer of bioproducts from the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis, the main source of the pigment astaxanthin. Our research team, composed by chemists and fishing engineers, developed a new technology (Patent deposited: INPI – BR 10 2024 008326 1) that increased both the microalga biomass production and its astaxanthin content. A scaleup of the technology is going on using an open culture system. The project “Scale-up of the cultivation of the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis: production of astaxanthin, a high-value-added antioxidant pigment for the nutraceutical and cosmetics production sectors” is being supported (R$593,668.27; US$ 108,000) by the state funding agency FUNCAP (Process 07806924/2023) – Call No. 05/2023 – Entrepreneurial Researcher Program – Formation of Academic Spin-offs.
